The Snipe North American Championship 2026 comes to Newport, Rhode Island, hosted by Sail Newport at Fort Adams together with Newport's Snipe Fleet 17. The Snipe is a two-person, 15.5-foot racing dinghy that has been around since 1931, and its North Americans draws serious talent: the class has a habit of attracting Olympic-calibre sailors who keep coming back for the tactical, close racing the boat rewards. Fleet 17 has grown noticeably over the past few years, and hosting the continental championship is a marker of that. The 2026 championship is scheduled for 28 to 30 August, with racing on Narragansett Bay off Fort Adams State Park, one of the best race venues on the US East Coast for reliable sea breeze and spectator-friendly water. Expect crews from across the United States plus visitors from the strong Snipe fleets in the Caribbean, South America and Japan.
