The Freedom Cup is a race day for sailors with physical disabilities, run by the Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing Foundation out of Burnham Harbor on Chicago's lakefront. The 2026 edition takes place on 16 August as part of the foundation's summer race series on Lake Michigan. The foundation was set up in 1990 by the family of Judd Goldman as a partnership with the Chicago Park District, and its programmes now reach more than a thousand participants each year. Racing uses the foundation's own fleet, which includes Freedom 20s designed specifically for disabled sailors, along with Sonars and 2.4 Metre keelboats. Courses are set just off the Chicago skyline, which is not a bad backdrop for a regatta. The Freedom Cup sits alongside the foundation's better-known Independence Cup in a full season of adaptive racing on the lake, based at the Judd Goldman Sailing Center on South Linn White Drive.
