SUP 11-City Tour (5-day)

Date: 9 September 2026 – 13 September 2026

Location: Leeuwarden, Netherlands

Organizer: SUP 11-City Tour

The SUP 11-City Tour is a stand up paddle race along the route of Friesland's legendary Elfstedentocht ice-skating tour, passing all eleven Frisian cities over roughly 220 kilometres of canals and lakes. The five-day version runs from 9 to 13 September 2026, starting and finishing in Leeuwarden, with stages of around 40 to 45 kilometres per day. The event was created by Anne-Marie Reichman, a former professional windsurfer from Friesland who discovered SUP on Maui and first paddled the eleven-city route herself in 38 hours. Elite racers and amateurs compete side by side, and conditions decide much of the story: early September in the Netherlands can mean flat water and sunshine or a cold headwind that turns a stage into a grind. A separate non-stop version takes place the weekend before, on 5 and 6 September. For distance paddlers, this is one of the sport's genuine bucket-list events.
