International Kite Festival Scheveningen

Date: 26 September 2026 – 27 September 2026

Location: Scheveningen, Netherlands

Organizer: Stijgkracht / Scheveningen

The International Kite Festival Scheveningen is the largest kite event in the Netherlands, held each autumn on the beach just south of the Scheveningen Pier. More than a hundred kite flyers from dozens of countries fill the sky with giant single-line kites, stunt displays and power kiting demonstrations. Almost every year one of the largest kites in Europe is launched from the sand here, which is worth the trip on its own. The 2026 edition runs Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, from 11:00 to 17:00 each day, and admission is free. There is no ticket, no fence, no grandstand. You simply walk onto the beach and look up. Conditions matter, of course. Scheveningen gets steady North Sea wind, which is exactly why the festival has settled here, but a calm day can ground the biggest kites. Bring a jacket, check the forecast, and expect crowds on the boulevard.
