Sail Sand Point Octoberfest Youth Regatta

Date: 12 September 2026

Location: Sail Sand Point, Seattle, United States

Organizer: Sail Sand Point

Octoberfest is the autumn youth regatta at Sail Sand Point, the nonprofit community boating center at Magnuson Park on the north end of Lake Washington in Seattle. Despite the name, the 2026 event is set for September 12-13. The regatta is a fixture of the Northwest youth racing calendar and runs alongside the USODA Northwest Opti Championships, so the beach fills with Optimists plus other junior classes, from first-time racers to kids chasing regional rankings. Sail Sand Point suits this kind of event well: a gently sloping launch area, sheltered water close to shore, and a big grassy rigging field. The center closes its regular rentals for the weekend and turns the whole site over to the racing. For many Seattle-area juniors this is either a first regatta or a last tune-up of the season, and the mix of nerves and experience on the start line reflects that.
