The Chicago Grand Slam is a Grade 2 match racing event run by Chicago Yacht Club as part of the World Match Racing Tour calendar and the USA Grand Slam Series. The 2026 edition opens that domestic series, with a practice day on 13 August and racing from 14 to 16 August on Lake Michigan off downtown Chicago. Match racing is one-on-one: two identical boats, an umpired pre-start duel, then a short course sprint, repeated through round robins into knockout stages. The stakes reach beyond the weekend, since the winner of the USA Grand Slam Series earns an invitation to Long Beach Yacht Club's Congressional Cup in 2027, one of the oldest prizes in the discipline. Chicago Yacht Club has deep match racing form through its long partnership with the Chicago Match Race Center, and racing this close to the city means the skyline backdrop comes free.
