Columbia Sailing School

Location: Chicago, United States

Columbia Sailing School operates from the docks of the Columbia Yacht Club at the foot of Randolph Street, at the north end of Monroe Harbor on Chicago's Lake Michigan waterfront. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the sailing education arm of the club. Adult courses for new and intermediate sailors are taught on a fleet of Colgate 26 keelboats, and youth programs run from introductory summer camps through advanced racing teams. US Sailing named it the 2018 Emerging Center of Excellence for its Reach STEM program and the 2019 Midwest Center of Excellence, then selected it as the Midwest's primary Siebel Center. The school also gives free marine STEM field trips to fourth and fifth graders from under-resourced Chicago schools.
