AYC Two Bridge Fiasco

Date: 2 August 2026

Location: Annapolis Yacht Club, Annapolis, United States

Organizer: Annapolis Yacht Club

The Two Bridge Fiasco is the Annapolis Yacht Club's answer to San Francisco Bay's famous Three Bridge Fiasco, and it borrows the same happy chaos. It is a pursuit race for singlehanded and doublehanded crews only, sailed on the Chesapeake between the Bay Bridge and the Naval Academy Bridge on the Severn River, with the start and finish line in the middle near the mouth of the Severn. Boats may round the two bridge marks in either order and in either direction, so competitors converge on the finish from opposite ways, and slower boats start first under the pursuit format. The result is a course that turns normal race tactics on their head. The first edition drew 133 boats, a strong number for a shorthanded event, and it has become a fixture of the Annapolis summer calendar. Simple rules, endless arguments about which way round is faster.
