2026 Chubb U.S. Youth Triplehanded Championship Sears Cup

The Sears Cup is the oldest national championship trophy in American sailing, first contested in 1921 and now sailed as the Chubb U.S. Youth Triplehanded Championship, the name it has carried since 2023. The 2026 edition takes place from 7 to 10 August at Noroton Yacht Club in Darien, Connecticut, on Long Island Sound. Teams qualify through US Sailing's Area qualifiers, and since the event doubled in size in 2023 each Area can send two teams, for a 22-team national fleet. Racing is in Sonars, the keelboat Noroton knows well, and 2026 teams comprise four youth sailors representing a yacht club or sailing organization that belongs to US Sailing. The trophy list reads like a history of American sailing, with past winners going on to Olympic and America's Cup careers. For young sailors raised on dinghies, a week of tactical keelboat racing against the country's best is a different discipline entirely.
