Raid Erie 2026

Date: 31 July 2026 – 2 August 2026

Location: United States

Raid Erie is a three-day sail-and-oar gathering around the southern islands of Lake Erie, running 31 July to 2 August 2026. A raid, in the small-boat sense, is a cruise in loose company for dinghies and other craft that can be both sailed and rowed, camping along the way, and that is exactly what this is: no committee boats, no ratings, just small boats island-hopping between Put-in-Bay, Middle Bass and the neighboring islands off the Ohio shore. The inaugural edition took place in August 2025, so 2026 is the second running. The format suits home-built and traditional small craft, and the event has a following among wooden dinghy builders. The Bass Islands are a good venue for it, with short open-water crossings, state park campgrounds and the Miller Ferry connecting the islands to the mainland at Catawba. Simple, self-reliant and a bit weather-dependent, which is the charm.
