SMM Hamburg

Date: 1 September 2026 – 4 September 2026

Location: Hamburg Messe, Hamburg, Germany

SMM is the maritime industry's biggest trade fair, held every two years at the Hamburg Messe exhibition halls. The 2026 edition runs from 1 to 4 September. Around 2,000 exhibitors fill the halls with shipbuilding technology, propulsion systems, marine equipment and electronics, and organizers expect tens of thousands of visitors from more than 100 countries. This is not a regatta or a leisure boat show. It is where shipyards, suppliers, classification societies and naval architects meet to do business, and the conference program tracks the industry's current preoccupations: decarbonization, alternative fuels, digitalization and autonomous shipping. Hamburg is a fitting host, with one of Europe's largest ports a short ride from the fairgrounds. If your interest in sailing extends to how ships are designed, built and powered, four days here cover the entire supply chain. Trade visitors dominate, so plan accordingly.
