Hanse Sail Rostock 2026

Date: 6 August 2026 – 9 August 2026

Location: Stadthafen Rostock, Rostock, Germany

Organizer: Hanse Sail Verein / Hansestadt Rostock

Hanse Sail is Germany's largest gathering of traditional sailing ships and one of Europe's biggest maritime festivals, held every August in Rostock and the seaside district of Warnemünde on the Baltic coast. The 35th edition runs from 6 to 9 August 2026, with more than 100 vessels from seven nations expected along the quays: tall ships, museum ships, steamers and working sail of every size. The core of the event is that you can actually go sailing. Around 12,000 tickets are sold for day and evening trips out of the city harbour, down the Warnow and into the Baltic, with crews putting guests to work on deck. Ashore there are maritime markets, music stages, folklore and street theatre, and the festival regularly draws about a million visitors over four days. The 2026 opening includes fireworks over Warnemünde beach on the Thursday night. Book the sailing trips early; roughly half were already sold by midsummer.
