Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta

Date: 22 August 2026 – 30 August 2026

Location: England

Organizer: Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta

The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta is one of the oldest events on the English sailing calendar, first held in 1834 on the River Dart in south Devon. The 2026 programme stretches from 22 to 30 August. A Regatta Community Day on 22 August opens the run-in, the formal Opening Ceremony follows on 26 August, and the main regatta days are 27 to 29 August, closing with fireworks over the river on the Saturday night at 9pm. Sailing is only part of it. The week mixes yacht and dinghy racing with rowing, swimming events, air displays, live music, street food and funfair attractions across both Dartmouth and Kingswear. Thousands of visitors arrive each August and the town is at capacity through regatta week, so book accommodation well ahead. The steep wooded banks of the Dart make a natural amphitheatre, and watching racing from the embankment costs nothing.
