Øresund på Langs

Øresund på Langs is Denmark's largest race for classic wooden boats, open to a mixed fleet of former working vessels and vintage pleasure craft: three-masted schooners, galeases, meter boats, skerry cruisers and spritsail dinghies, with a separate class for wooden motorboats. The 2026 event runs from 7 to 9 August. Friday brings an evening race and skippers' dinner at Svanemøllen in Copenhagen. Saturday is the main event, about 18 nautical miles up the sound to Helsingør with turning marks along the way. Sunday there is a gentlemen's race back. It is organised by the Maritimt Værksted Hal16 workshop in Helsingør together with Kjøbenhavnske Træsejlere, the M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark and other classic-boat associations. Entry includes berthing in Helsingør's historic harbour below Kronborg castle and admission to the maritime museum, which is built into an old dry dock. Quayside demonstrations by sailmakers and blacksmiths round out the weekend ashore.
