Engadin Surf Marathon

Date: 22 August 2026

Location: Silvaplana, Switzerland

Organizer: Engadinwind

The Engadin Surf Marathon is a long-distance race for windsurfers and kitesurfers on Lake Silvaplana, high in the Swiss Engadin valley at around 1,800 metres. The 2026 race, on 22 and 23 August, is the 49th edition, which makes it one of the oldest events in windsurfing anywhere. It runs as part of the VANORA Engadinwind festival, held 17 to 23 August 2026, which also brings wing foil and other disciplines to the lake. The engine behind everything here is the Maloja wind, a thermal breeze that fills in reliably most afternoons in summer and has made this alpine lake a fixture of the sport since the 1970s. Race base is the Sportzentrum Mulets on the Silvaplana shore. The marathon is open to a wide field, from serious racers to locals who do it every year, and cold mountain water is part of the deal.
