2026 Golden Globe Race

Date: 6 September 2026

Location: Les Sables-d'Olonne, France

Organizer: Golden Globe Race / McIntyre Adventure

The fourth edition of the original Golden Globe Race: a solo, non-stop circumnavigation without outside assistance or modern electronics, sailed in production boats to pre-1988 designs. Up to 30 invited skippers start from Les Sables-d'Olonne on 6 September 2026 at 12:30 UTC, retracing the 1968 Sunday Times race that Robin Knox-Johnston won — by the organisers' own description the longest, loneliest and slowest challenge in sport. Finishers are expected back in the French port in mid-2027.
