Jachthaven Wartena
Location: Hooidam 10, Warten, Netherlands
Jachthaven Wartena, run by a non-profit foundation, claims to be the largest marina in Friesland and sits at Warten in the heart of the Frisian lake district, right on the edge of the Alde Feanen National Park. The harbour has a deserved reputation for its friendly atmosphere and hands-on harbour masters, and its facilities run well beyond the usual: fuel station, boat rental, service and maintenance, extensive winter storage, plus camper pitches and chalets for crews who want a night ashore. From the moorings the reed-fringed lakes, canals and wetland channels of the Alde Feanen open up in every direction, with Leeuwarden and Grou both an easy cruise away.
