The Ocean Race Atlantic is a new transatlantic race from The Ocean Race organization, and the first port-to-port event in the race's fifty-plus year history. Fully crewed foiling IMOCA 60s start from Brooklyn Bridge Marina in New York on 2 September 2026 and race east across the Atlantic to Port Vell in Barcelona, with the finish expected around two weeks later. Every boat sails under a 50/50 crew rule, with two women and two men aboard. Each entry also carries scientific instruments, logging temperature, salinity, CO2 and microplastics data across the North Atlantic as part of the race's ocean science programme. The event bridges the gap to the next full round-the-world edition and gives IMOCA teams a rare fully crewed transatlantic sprint between solo campaigns. A west-to-east crossing in early September means fast conditions are likely, and the record books for this course are blank. Someone has to set the first marks.
