Route du Rhum–Destination Guadeloupe

Every four years the Route du Rhum finishes in Pointe-a-Pitre, and for Guadeloupe the race is a home event as much as a French one. Skippers leave Saint-Malo alone and cross the Atlantic single-handed, racing toward the finish off the island after roughly 3,500 nautical miles at sea. The 13th edition starts on 1 November 2026 at 13:02 with 118 solo sailors, which the organisers call the highest-level lineup the race has ever had. Six divisions share one start line: Ultim, IMOCA, Ocean Fifty, Class40, Vintage Multi and Vintage Mono. The big Ultim trimarans arrive in Guadeloupe first, usually within days, while the smaller and older boats keep finishing for weeks afterward. Organiser OC Sport Pen Duick runs villages at both ends of the course, in Saint-Malo before the start and in Pointe-a-Pitre for the arrivals, so the island gets a long stretch of finish-line celebrations rather than a single race day.
