Maritimt Folkemøde Korsør

Date: 22 August 2026

Location: Korsør harbour, Korsør, Denmark

Organizer: Danmarks Maritimt Folkemøde

Maritimt Folkemøde takes over the old shipyard grounds at Værftet in Korsør on Saturday 22 August 2026. It's a maritime version of the Danish folkemøde tradition: debates and talks about coastal life and the maritime professions, mixed with a harbour festival. Expect wooden ships at the quay, sea shanties, fish on the grill and hands-on activities for kids, alongside panel discussions with people who actually work at sea. The event is organized by FGU Syd- og Vestsjælland together with Slagelse Municipality and local maritime partners, and has grown steadily since it first ran in 2018. It forms part of the town's Maritime Culture Week. The format mixes politics and festival, which sounds odd on paper but works well on a summer day by the Great Belt.
