iQFOiL World Championship Weymouth

Date: 7 September 2026 – 12 September 2026

Location: Weymouth, United Kingdom

Organizer: RYA / iQFOiL Class

The 2026 iQFOiL World Championship runs from 7 to 12 September at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, hosted by the RYA and the iQFOiL class. This is the world title event for the Olympic windsurfing equipment, with up to 250 riders expected, including Olympic medallists and the British Sailing Team's Emma Wilson, who grew up racing on these waters. iQFOiL racing is fast and unforgiving. Boards lift onto hydrofoils and hit speeds around 35 knots, with course racing, slalom and knockout medal series formats deciding the titles. The venue hosted the 2012 Olympic sailing events and remains one of the most reliable race areas in northern Europe: Portland Harbour offers sheltered water, while the open courses in Weymouth Bay get late-summer south-westerly sea breezes with tide adding a tactical layer. For many riders this is a key marker on the road to the 2028 Olympic cycle.
