The East Coast Dragon Championship 2026 takes place from 11 to 13 September at Medway Yacht Club in Lower Upnor, Kent, run with the British Dragon Association. The event brings together local and travelling Dragons from the east coast fleets at Medway, Burnham and Aldeburgh, racing on the River Medway and out toward the estuary. The Dragon is a 1929 Johan Anker design, a three-person classic keelboat that still attracts seriously good sailors, and the east coast circuit is one of its traditional UK strongholds. Medway Yacht Club has hosted this championship before, typically running windward-leeward courses over the weekend. Tidal flow on the Medway is strong and local knowledge counts for a lot, which is part of the appeal for visiting crews trying to unseat the home fleet. Expect a compact, competitive entry and a proper club-run event rather than a big commercial regatta.
