Dinghy Section Summer Regatta (including the Cairnie Cup) 2026

Date: 15 August 2026

Location: Bardowie Loch (Clyde Cruising Club), Bardowie, Scotland

Organizer: Clyde Cruising Club

The Clyde Cruising Club's Dinghy Section races on Bardowie Loch, a small loch north of Glasgow near Milngavie, from its own purpose-built clubhouse on the shore. The Summer Regatta is a fixture of the section's season and incorporates the Cairnie Cup, awarded to the best-placed junior sailor. The 2026 running is set for Saturday 15 August. Racing on Bardowie is close-quarters by nature. The loch is compact, the breeze bends around the surrounding trees and low ground, and local knowledge counts for plenty. The regatta is a club event, sailed in a mixed dinghy fleet, which keeps it open to whatever boats members bring down on the day. The parent club is a big name in Scottish sailing: founded in 1909, the Clyde Cruising Club is the largest sailing club in Scotland, better known for cruising and offshore racing, and Bardowie is where its dinghy training and junior sailing live.
