Closing Muster 2026
Date: 26 September 2026
Location: Bardowie Loch (Clyde Cruising Club), Bardowie, Scotland
Organizer: Clyde Cruising Club
The Closing Muster is the Clyde Cruising Club's traditional end to the sailing season, held on the Firth of Clyde on 26 and 27 September 2026. It has two parts. Racers sail the Closing Muster Race on the Saturday, while the cruising fleet makes a more relaxed passage from Rothesay Bay through the Kyles of Bute to Tarbert on Loch Fyne, with the option of joining anywhere along the route, including around Garroch Head for boats coming up from the south. Everyone ends up in Tarbert Harbour for the night, which is the real point of a muster: rafted boats, a busy quay and a shared evening ashore before the fleet scatters for winter. The club dates from 1909 and its musters are a fixture of west of Scotland sailing. The Kyles in late September, with autumn colour coming onto the hillsides, make a fine last sail of the year.
