Tenerife El Medano Windsurf Grand Slam (Slalom-X)

El Médano, on the southeast tip of Tenerife, hosts a stop on the PWA Windsurfing World Tour every summer, and the 2026 event runs 31 July to 9 August as part of the town's Wind&Waves Festival. El Cabezo beach is the contest site, a venue with a reputation for delivering: the acceleration zone under Montaña Roja gives strong, reliable trade winds through July and August. The 2026 edition is the twelfth at El Médano and combines Wave and Slalom X disciplines for the PWA/WWT Open, Junior and Masters world championship fleets, with more than 160 competitors from around 20 countries expected. New for this year are the Spanish Open Championship and a Foil Drive Challenge. Spectating is easy and free, with racing visible from the beach and the boardwalk. El Médano is one of Europe's established windsurf towns, so the festival atmosphere extends well beyond the beach flags.
