Risør Wooden Boat Festival 2026

Date: 30 July 2026 – 1 August 2026

Location: Risør Town Harbour (Torvet 1), Risør (Aust-Agder), Norway

Organizer: Risør Trebåtfestival

Risør Trebåtfestival is Norway's largest wooden boat festival, held since 1984 in the white-painted harbour town of Risør on the Skagerrak coast. The 2026 edition runs 30 July to 1 August. The harbour fills with clinker-built skiffs, sloops, motor launches and classic sailing yachts from across the Nordic countries, and the town's wooden architecture makes an unusually coherent backdrop; Risør built boats for centuries and the festival grew out of that trade. Expect boatbuilding demonstrations, a market along the harbour promenade, concerts and races on the fjord, with free admission for children and a modest ticket for adults. The 2026 theme is 'Alle gode ting er tre', a pun that works in Norwegian, where 'tre' means both three and wood. This is not a polished superyacht show. It is owners, builders and sailors of old boats in one small town, which is exactly the appeal.
