Regata Canarias-Madeira
Date: 1 September 2026 – 10 September 2026
Location: Portugal
Organizer: Clube Naval do Funchal
An ocean race between two Atlantic archipelagos, first sailed in 1978 and now one of the oldest fixtures linking the Canary Islands and Madeira. The fleet departs the Canaries and sails north across open Atlantic water to Funchal, a proper offshore passage rather than a coastal series. The 2026 edition starts on 1 September, with the prize ceremony set for 5 September in Madeira. Real Club Nautico de Tenerife leads the organization this time, working with Clube Naval do Funchal, which hosts the arrival at the Funchal marina. Crews come from several countries, and the event doubles as an exchange between the islands, with regional backing on both sides to keep the maritime connection alive. The arrival of the fleet in Funchal is a small event in itself, and the crossing gives amateur crews a taste of real ocean racing without committing to a transatlantic.
