2026 Optimist Girls US National Championship

The 2026 Optimist Girls US National Championship is a one-day, girls-only championship run by the United States Optimist Dinghy Association (USODA), held July 28 at Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club in Beach Haven, New Jersey. It opens the USODA nationals week, with the open Optimist National Championship following from July 29 to August 1 at the same venue. The girls' event is a proper championship in its own right: no green fleet, a five-race schedule, and a spot on the qualification pathway for the 2027 Optimist Team Trials. Entry numbers tell the story of how the class is growing, with more than 150 boats registered for the girls' regatta and over 350 for the open nationals that follow. Racing is on the protected waters of Little Egg Harbor behind Long Beach Island, a shallow bay that usually delivers a reliable summer sea breeze for the eight-and-under-sixteen crowd.
