Looe Lugger Classics 2026

Date: 31 July 2026 – 2 August 2026

Location: Looe harbour, Looe, United Kingdom

Organizer: Looe Festival

Looe Lugger Classics brings restored traditional sailing luggers back to the Cornish fishing town where many of them were built. The 2026 event runs Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August, organised by the Looe-based Cornish Lugger Association, and is now annual after years as a biennial fixture. The fleet centres on Cornish luggers, dipping-lug fishing boats often more than a century old, though entry has widened to other classic fishing boats and yachts. Racing takes place in Looe Bay with the boats working in and out of the tidal harbour. Ashore, an event village on West Looe Quay runs live music on two stages across three nights, from sea shanties and choirs to rock bands, plus maritime heritage talks, crab-pot and oar making demonstrations, an artist in residence and a model boat display. Seeing a fleet of tanned lugsails against the Cornish coast is the point; the rest is a good excuse.
