The Championnat Bananes is the house racing series of the Cercle de la Voile d'Arcachon, run out of the Centre Nautique Pierre Mallet on Quai de Goslar. The name is honest: the fleet sails parcours banane, simple windward-leeward loops, on the Bassin d'Arcachon. Rounds are numbered through the season and there are plenty of them; the 2024 edition had reached round seven by early October, and in 2026 the fourth round was sailed on 21 June. Cruisers and monotypes race together, with results also feeding the club's Challenge CVA standings. The venue does most of the work here. The Bassin is a tidal lagoon laced with sandbanks and channels, so a banana course that looks routine on paper rarely sails that way, and local knowledge is worth boat lengths. It is low-cost, regular club racing of the kind that keeps a fleet sharp between bigger events.
