BanaNwel is the year-end regatta of La Banane, Toutes Voiles Dehors, a sailing association based in Le Gosier, Guadeloupe. The name puts a Creole twist on Christmas, and the timing matches: the event is traditionally raced in the days between Christmas and New Year on the water off Le Gosier, between Salako and Salines beaches. It is a boardsports regatta at heart. Fleets of windsurfers and kitesurfers, joined in recent years by foiling classes, share the same stretch of trade-wind water, and around fifty riders took part in the 2021 edition. The 2025 edition was postponed after a poor weather forecast for the race window, a reminder that even Guadeloupe in December does not guarantee sailing conditions. The 2026 edition is listed on the French Sailing Federation calendar for late December, in the usual post-Christmas slot, with La Banane again the organizing club.
