Australian Optimist Championship 2027
Date: 2 January 2027 – 9 January 2027
Location: Royal Brighton Yacht Club, Melbourne, Australia
Organizer: Australian International Optimist Dinghy Association
The Australian Optimist Championship sails out of Royal Brighton Yacht Club from 2 to 9 January 2027, with several hundred of the country's youngest racers expected on Port Phillip. The nationals decide Australian titles in the open and intermediate Optimist fleets and serve as the principal selection event for national representative teams, including nominations tied to the 2027 Commonwealth Youth Games pathway. Organised by the Australian International Optimist Dinghy Association, the championship typically combines invitational practice races, a measurement period and a week of fleet racing. Brighton's harbour and clubhouse give families and coaches a compact base for the regatta.
