1st Victorian Sea Scouts

Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Formed in 1912, the 1st Victorian Sea Scouts rank among the first sea scout groups founded anywhere in the world. Their hall stands at 7 Aquatic Drive on Albert Park Lake in inner Melbourne, where a clubhouse for Victoria's sea scouts went up in 1916, a year after the Ancient Mariners Society donated the group's first boat. Sections from Joeys and Cubs through Scouts to Venturers sail and paddle on the lake during the summer months, with canoeing and kayaking part of the regular programme. The group has now used the lake and its surrounds for over a century and continues to recruit across all age ranges.
