Vintage Gold Cup

The Vintage Gold Cup is a regatta for vintage wooden Star class boats, sailed on Gull Lake at Gull Lake Yacht Club in Richland, Michigan, from September 30 to October 2, 2026. The Star has been raced since 1911 and was an Olympic class for decades; this event, started in 2017 by the Gull Lake Star fleet, is specifically for the older wooden hulls that most fleets retired long ago. Owners restore boats that are sixty, eighty, sometimes nearly a hundred years old and race them properly, spinnaker-less and low to the water in the way that makes the Star such a physical boat to sail. Early October on Gull Lake usually means flat water, shifty breeze and autumn colours on the shoreline. Spectating from the club is easy, and the boats alone are worth the trip.
