The Cumhuriyet Kupası, or Republic Cup, is Istanbul's offshore regatta timed around Republic Day on 29 October, when Turkey marks the founding of the republic. The 2026 edition opens on 29 October with a race through the Istanbul Strait for all classes, finishing off Fişekhane. Racing then shifts south to the Kadıköy-Moda area, with buoy races on 31 October and 1 November for the ORC, IRC and Sportsboat divisions, while cruiser classes sail geographic courses toward the Princes' Islands. Prize-giving is held at Fişekhane on 1 November. The Bosphorus stage is the draw here. Racing a sailboat down one of the busiest and most beautiful straits in the world, with the city stacked up on both banks, is not something many regattas can offer, and it gives the event a civic, celebratory character on top of the sport.
