RCYC Trinco Blu Sailing Regatta 2026

The Royal Colombo Yacht Club and Cinnamon Hotels run this annual regatta from the beach at Trinco Blu by Cinnamon in Trincomalee, on Sri Lanka's east coast. First held in 2009, partly to draw attention to the east coast as a sailing destination, it has grown into the island's flagship sailing event. The tenth edition drew a record 55 boats, with strong youth entries in the Optimist and Laser classes alongside crewed and single-handed racing on the bay. Sri Lanka Navy sailors are regular front-runners. Trincomalee's natural harbour is one of the largest in the world, and early September usually brings steady breeze on this side of the island while the southwest coast sits in monsoon. Racing runs over a weekend with the resort as base camp, which keeps the whole thing sociable. Expect a mix of serious club racers, service crews and families on the water.
