IODA Asian & Oceanian Championship 2026 (Optimist dinghy — Sri Lanka)

Date: 12 December 2026 – 19 December 2026

Location: Port City Colombo beach, Sri Lanka

Organizer: Hong Kong Optimist Dinghy Association

The IODA Asian and Oceanian Championship is the continental title event for the Optimist, the small singlehanded dinghy raced by junior sailors worldwide. The 2026 championship takes place from 12 to 19 December at the beach of Port City Colombo, the reclaimed waterfront development beside Sri Lanka's capital, with racing held in the adjacent Colombo Sailing Area. It is the last of the year's IODA continental championships, closing a season that includes the Optimist Worlds and the European, African, North American and South American titles. National teams from across Asia and Oceania will compete in warm-water conditions that reward tactical racing. For Sri Lanka it is a significant hosting assignment; the country's junior sailors have been posting improving results at IODA events, and staging a continental championship at home is a step up for a small sailing nation. Sri Lanka Sailing is the host authority.
