Optimist Asian & Oceanian Championship

Date: 12 December 2026 – 19 December 2026

Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka

Organizer: International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA)

The IODA Asian and Oceanian Championship is the continental title event for Optimist sailors from Asia and Oceania, run under the International Optimist Dinghy Association. The 2026 championship is hosted by Sri Lanka and will be sailed off the beach at Colombo Port City from 12 to 19 December 2026. Each IODA member nation from the two regions may enter up to ten sailors, with the host allowed twenty, so the fleet mixes established Optimist nations with developing sailing programmes across a huge geographic spread. Alongside the individual fleet racing there is a team racing championship for up to 16 national teams, qualified on cumulative race results. Racing takes place in the Colombo sailing area, warm water with tactical, shifting conditions. For many young sailors in the region this event is the stepping stone between national competition and the Optimist Worlds, and results here carry real weight in team selections.
