Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2027

The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge is not a regatta in the usual sense. It is a competition for boats powered by alternative energy, organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco, and it has become the main international meeting point for students and engineers working on zero-emission propulsion. Teams design, build and race boats in classes covering energy efficiency, solar power and open innovation, with hydrogen systems increasingly common. The 2027 edition is scheduled for 29 June to 3 July in Monaco. It also gains a new dimension: the Yacht Club de Monaco has launched a Monaco Energy Boat Challenge World Series, with qualifying events planned on Lake Como in April 2027 and in Darwin, Australia, feeding teams into the Monaco final. Alongside the racing there are tech talks and forums connecting universities with the yachting industry. For anyone curious about where recreational boating is heading, this is the event to watch.
