The 38th America's Cup takes place in Naples in summer 2027, the first time Italy has hosted the oldest trophy in international sport. Emirates Team New Zealand is the Defender, with Athena Racing, led by Ben Ainslie, as Challenger of Record and a challenger list that includes Luna Rossa, Alinghi and teams from France, the United States and Australia. Racing is again in AC75s, the 75-foot foiling monohulls that fly above the water at speeds past 50 knots. The Louis Vuitton Cup challenger series opens on 22-23 May 2027 with a fleet racing weekend for all seven challengers, a first in Cup history, before match racing decides who faces the Kiwis. The Match itself runs from 10 to 19 July 2027, sailed on the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius as the backdrop. For Luna Rossa's home fans, the stakes could hardly be higher.
