The Centomiglia is Lake Garda's classic distance race, first sailed in 1951 and organized by Circolo Vela Gargnano from Bogliaco on the lake's western shore. The 76th edition runs September 4 to 6, 2026, keeping the two-race format of recent years: the Trofeo Gargnano on Saturday 5 September and the Trofeo Gorla on Sunday 6 September, with a single entry covering both. The courses cross the whole lake, touching all three regions that share it: Lombardy, Trentino and Veneto. Garda's thermal winds make the race what it is. The northerly Pelér blows through the morning, the southerly Ora takes over after midday, and reading the switch has decided more editions than boat speed has. The fleet is mixed and open, from lake-bred prototypes and fast multihulls to ordinary cruiser-racers. For northern Italian sailors this is the season's fixed point, and many crews have sailed it for decades.
