Barcolana 2026

Date: 2 October 2026 – 11 October 2026

Location: Trieste waterfront, Trieste, Italy

Organizer: Societa Velica Barcola Grignano

The Barcolana in Trieste is recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest sailing regatta in the world. More than a thousand boats of every size, from small cruisers to grand prix maxis, line up together on a single startline in the Gulf of Trieste, amateurs and professional crews mixed into one enormous fleet. Barcolana 58, presented by Generali and organized by Societa Velica di Barcola e Grignano, runs from 2 to 11 October 2026, with the main race starting at 10:30 on Sunday 11 October. The days before the race fill the Trieste waterfront with the Barcolana village, plus side events including night racing in the San Giusto basin, and in 2026 the programme spreads across the wider Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The Italian Navy training ship Amerigo Vespucci is expected to attend. From the Trieste hills, the sight of a thousand sails filling the gulf at once is unlike anything else in the sport.
