Baltic Sail Gdansk

Date: 21 August 2026 – 24 August 2026

Location: Poland

Organizer: City of Gdansk

Baltic Sail Gdansk is Poland's biggest annual gathering of tall ships and traditional sailing vessels, held on the Motlawa river in the centre of the old city. The 2026 event is the 30th, jubilee edition and runs from 21 to 24 August. The format has held steady since the first edition in 1997. Sailing ships moor along the historic quays, there is a parade of sail, and for four days the waterfront fills with shanty music, meetings with crews and attractions for families. What sets it apart from many tall ship festivals is access. Tickets are sold for short cruises on Gdansk Bay aboard the visiting ships, so you can actually go sailing on them rather than just photograph them from the quay. The event is organised by the City of Gdansk, and with the ships berthed a few steps from the old town, no other Polish festival puts big sail this close to daily life.
