2027 World Sailing Championship – Fortaleza

Fortaleza, capital of Brazil's Ceará state, hosts the first half of the 2027 Sailing World Championships from 15 to 23 January 2027. It is the first time World Sailing has split its flagship championships in two: Fortaleza takes the one-person events, meaning ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 dinghies, men's and women's iQFOiL windsurfing, men's and women's Formula Kite, and Para Inclusive classes, while the two-person disciplines race in Gdynia, Poland, in summer 2027. The event is delivered with CB Vela, the Brazilian sailing federation, supported by the City of Fortaleza and the Iate Clube Fortaleza. The venue choice is no accident. Fortaleza's northeast trade winds are famously reliable, which is why the city has a long record of hosting world championships in Olympic and international classes. A test event on the same waters ran in January 2026.
