The Ocean Race 2027 – Itajaí Stopover
Date: 31 March 2027 – 18 April 2027
Location: Itajaí Port, Itajaí, Brazil
Organizer: The Ocean Race
Itajaí, in Brazil's Santa Catarina state, is a stopover of The Ocean Race 2027, receiving the IMOCA fleet after one of the hardest stretches of the course: the leg from Auckland through the Southern Ocean and around Cape Horn. Itajaí has filled this role before. The port has hosted the race's post-Cape Horn stopover in multiple editions since 2012, and its race villages have drawn some of the biggest crowds on the circuit, helped by southern Brazil's genuine enthusiasm for offshore sailing. Crews typically arrive worn down, with boats needing serious refit work after weeks of Southern Ocean sailing, so the stopover doubles as a repair yard. From Itajaí the 2027 course heads north to St. Pete-Clearwater in Florida, before a new transatlantic leg to Cascais and a finish on the Red Sea. Expect arrivals spread over days as the fleet compresses and splits along the Brazilian coast.
