Woollahra Sailing Club
Location: 2 Vickery Avenue, Rose Bay, NSW, Australia
Woollahra Sailing Club was founded at a meeting on 8 May 1953 by enthusiastic Moth class sailors from the Woollahra municipality, with Victor Friezer as first president. Early racing on Sunday mornings rarely drew more than seven or eight boats over short courses in Rose Bay. In December 1958 the club moved into the former RAAF officers' canteen building of the Rose Bay flying boat base, leased from Woollahra Council, and it has occupied that foreshore site ever since. Before the Sydney 2000 Olympics the club hosted a large influx of overseas teams that trained on the harbour. Today it ranks among Australia's foremost dinghy clubs, with its clubhouse on Vickery Avenue overlooking Rose Bay.
