Tamar Yacht Club

Location: Royal Park, Launceston, TAS, Australia

The Tamar Yacht Club dates from 1837 and the start of organised yacht racing on the Tamar River, a lineage that makes it the oldest yacht club in the Southern Hemisphere. The club operates from two bases: the city clubhouse at 7 Park Street, Launceston, and a modern 100-berth floating marina at Beauty Point on the Tamar estuary, seven nautical miles from Low Head. A full sailing calendar delivers around two hundred individual race starts each year, from junior beginners' dinghy races through to offshore events and Australian championship regattas. Members also have access to a slip yard, moorings, social spaces and on-water services.
