Sandringham Yacht Club

Location: Jetty Road, Sandringham, VIC, Australia

Sandringham Yacht Club on Port Phillip traces its roots to the Port Phillip Yacht Club of 1903 and to the Sandringham Yachting and Angling Club, founded in 1911 and renamed Sandringham Yacht Club a year later. The first racing season followed in 1913-14, and the two clubs amalgamated in 1932 after fire destroyed the Port Phillip clubhouse. Another blaze in 1955 razed the SYC clubhouse along with its records, and a new building served the Finn class regatta for the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Today the club ranks among Australia's most awarded yacht clubs, with a 400-berth marina off Jetty Road in Melbourne's bayside suburb of Sandringham and world-class sporting and event facilities at the water's edge.
