Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club

Location: 1 Hobbs Place, Peppermint Grove, WA, Australia

Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club traces its origins to 1896, when colonist Edward Keane and friends formed a boating club and built a jetty at the foot of Irvine Street on Freshwater Bay. It became a yacht club in 1903 and received its Royal charter in 1934. The clubhouse stands on Keane's Point at Peppermint Grove on the Swan River, in premises leased from the government in 1936 and extended with a second storey. Facilities include a marina with pens, tender racks and hard standing, dining rooms and a members' bar. Accredited Discover Sailing courses cater for children, teens and adults, and the club hosts a high performance programme run with the Western Australian Institute of Sport.
