Queensland Cruising Yacht Club

Location: Corner of Sinbad Street and Allpass Parade, Shorncliffe, QLD, Australia

Queensland Cruising Yacht Club was formed in 1948 to organise the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, first sailed at Easter 1949. The blue water classic still starts from Shorncliffe in Moreton Bay each Easter, and the Courier Mail Cup awarded to the winner is one of the oldest perpetual trophies contested continuously in Australia. The club is based on Cabbage Tree Creek at Shorncliffe, about 20 kilometres north of Brisbane's city centre. Its calendar also features the Surf to City Yacht Race and the Bribie Cup. Ashore, members and visitors have a waterfront restaurant and bar with function areas, and the club offers tuition through its own sailing school.
